Electric cooperatives have long played a vital role in economic development, investing in essential community projects through the USDA Rural Economic Development Loan (REDL) and Grant (REDG) program (REDLG).
Supporting Local Economic Growth with Zero-Interest Funding
Available through Sunflower’s member distribution cooperatives, this program provides zero-interest funding for up to 10 years, covering up to 80% of project costs through a competitive selection process.
Funding Opportunities:
- Public Purpose Projects – Up to $300,000 for cities, counties, nonprofits, or medical for-profit businesses serving the community. Eligible projects include fire trucks, hospital expansions, and library improvements.
- Economic Development Projects – Up to $1,000,000 for new or expanding businesses that create or retain jobs. Examples include motels, tire recycling facilities, and manufacturing equipment purchases.
